In 2017, I took a workshop in the French countryside at Boisbuchet with renowned designers Anthony Dunne and Fiona Raby. Our workshop drew from the book Einstein’s Dreams by Alan Lightman. It was a unique opportunity to collaborate on a thoughtful project that decentered technology from speculative design exploration. We thought specifically about time within a speculative design context, and created a world where time operates solely within the present moment as snapshots. I worked with Dierdre Pierce and Kate Williams to create a documented performance that drew from the somatic experience of being in water using limited props. Our experiments were featured in art shows in Australia and Berkeley, as well as published in the late science fashion magazine, Higgs.
